The position of the shadow of the hours on the solar plate,
allows the approximate determination of the period of the year
during which the reading is carried out; in fact, there are the
dates of the two solstices: on the bottom, June 21st,
the first day of the summer; on the top, December 21st,
the first day of winter. In the middle of the plate there are
the dates of the equinoxes: March 21st, the first day
of spring, and September 23rd, the first day of
autumn.
The picture was taken close to the summer solstice. |
