Equatorial sundials need the surface of the two quadrants to be inclined according to the local latitude; the lower one is illuminated from the autumn equinox to the spring equinox, while the upper one is lit vice versa.

This equatorial sundial is inclined according to the local latitude, which for Aiello del Friuli is 45° 52’ 16’’.
