Apollo, in Greek mythology, is the son of Zeus and Leto, and twin brother of Artemis. According to Homer, Apollo was first of all a prophet, whose oracle, based in Delphi, at times granted some best-loved mortals the gift of prophecy. One of such mortals was the Trojan princess Cassandra.

Also called Phoebus, “The Shining”, Apollo was the god of light, and according to myth, he drove the chariot of the Sun.
